Nomad GridZero (NGZ-1) — Platform Specifications
The NGZ-1 specification is designed around a larger outcome: one private local platform for AI, knowledge, maps, media, and household resources without cloud dependency.
1. System Architecture and Core Components
Hardware chosen to support a self-contained local digital ecosystem, not just a single AI workload.
| Category | Component | Validation and Operational Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chassis and Platform | HP ProDesk 600/800 SFF (Small Form Factor) | Industrial-grade steel chassis with toolless drive access, low-noise fan curves, and a footprint suitable for home, vehicle, or cabin deployment. |
| Processor (CPU) | Intel Core i5/i7 (8th/9th Gen, 6-Core / 12-Thread) | Balanced for low idle draw while supporting multiple local services, background indexing, and orchestration tasks. |
| GPU Acceleration | NVIDIA T600 (4GB GDDR6, 640 CUDA Cores, Turing Architecture) | Low-profile PCIe card with dedicated FP16/INT8 support for local AI inference and NVENC/NVDEC acceleration for media delivery. |
| System Memory (RAM) | 32GB DDR4-2666 / 3200MHz (Dual-Channel 2x16GB) | Configured for simultaneous AI context, offline content services, and multi-user local workloads. |
| Primary Storage | 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD | Pre-loaded with the OS, AI models, knowledge archives, and local portal services. Speeds up to 3,500 MB/s read. |
| Storage Expansion | 1x free 3.5" SATA III bay + 1x free 2.5" SATA III bay | Expandable for larger media libraries, map packs, archive collections, or household file storage. |
| Wireless Networking | Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 (M.2 Key E) + Dual 5dBi High-Gain External Antennas | Configured out of the box to support the private local network that client devices use to reach the Command Center. |
| Wired Networking | 1x RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet (Intel I219-LM) | Full duplex 10/100/1000 Mbps network interface. |
| Display / Video Out | Mini-DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 adapter included | Supports native 4K at 60Hz display output for local setup. |
2. Power, Thermals and Off-Grid Compatibility
Designed for solar generators, portable power stations, and UPS systems.
- Input Power: 100–240V AC, 50-60Hz with internal high-efficiency 80+ Platinum PSU.
- Idle Power Consumption: Approximately 18W – 25W.
- Peak Load: Approximately 65W – 85W max during full GPU and CPU inference.
- Battery and Power Station Runtime Estimates: EcoFlow River 3 (245Wh) for around 3.5 to 6+ hours, Jackery Explorer 500 (518Wh) for around 7 to 12+ hours, and APC Back-UPS 600VA for around 30 to 45 minutes for graceful shutdown coverage.
- Thermal Operating Range: 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C) ambient operating temperature.
What 25W actually means
NGZ-1 sits much closer to a small always-on device than a power-hungry home appliance, which is why backup batteries and portable power stations are realistic options.
3. Pre-Installed Local Software Stack
The NGZ-1 ships as a local platform experience, built on open-source foundations including Project Nomad.
